iRally adopts Race2Recovery as chosen charity

The independent rally multimedia news service, iRally, who already supports McRae Vision and the Richard Burns Foundation, has announced that Race2Recovery will become one of its chosen charities for 2012.

The independent rally multimedia news service, iRally, has announced that Race2Recovery will become one of its chosen charities for 2012. iRally already supports McRae Vision and the Richard Burns Foundation and now, has given its official backing to the team of injured and disabled soldiers aiming to raise money for Help for Heroes which will be restricted towards the Personnel Recovery and Assessment Centre (South) at Tedworth House and inspire the wider disabled community to realise their goals, by becoming the first disabled team to contest the Dakar Rally, in 2013.

Encompassing the stand-alone app for both Apple and Android products, an all-new website – www.irallylive.com offering news, videos and live stage times and reports and the world-renowned World Rally Radio and Rally Radio services, which reports on the FIA World Rally Championship and the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, iRally has been downloaded more than 350,000 times and has become the definitive news service for both championships.

iRally’s video service has also become a world leader, with more than 10 million video views through the Apps last: these are now also available on the irallylive.com website.  World Rally Radio has already broadcast this year from the Rallye Monte-Carlo and Rally Sweden, with audiences reaching record levels.

Race2Recovery is no stranger to iRally; iRally first interviewed the team and patron Ben Collins in September 2011 at RallyDay and World Rally Radio caught up with team members at Wales Rally GB and Autosport International at the start of 2012.

However, the adoption of R2R as one of iRally’s chosen charities brings enormous benefits.

Commenting, Race2Recovery’s Tony Harris said; “I am delighted and honoured that iRally has selected Race2Recovery as one of its chosen charities. That in itself is an incredible display of support and one which we are of course eternally grateful for. However, to be chosen alongside charities set up in the memories of Colin McRae and Richard Burns, two of the greats of rallying, is very humbling and something we never thought would happen.

“The entire motorsport community has welcomed us and our campaign wholeheartedly and this is another example of that. I’m sure that, thanks to iRally, the public will support us even more than they have done already and make a significant contribution towards the recovery of our fellow injured servicemen, women and their families.

Publisher of iRally, Greg Strange, said; “When I learned of the Race2Recovery program and subsequently met the team at RallyDay, I was immediately struck by their grit, tenacity and determination. It was clear immediately that we simply had to support this campaign in whatever way we could. Adopting Race2Recovery as one of our chosen charities, alongside McRae Vision and the RBF seemed the obvious way to do that.

“We know that the iRally community and World Rally Radio and Rally Radio listeners are passionate and I am absolutely sure that they will also support the program to help realise its goals.”

iRally with World Rally Radio and Rally Radio is available free for the iPhone and iPad through the App Store and for Android devices through Market. It is also available online at irallylive.com.

World Rally Radio can be found on irallylive.com, on iTunes and Apple TV and at worldrallyradio.com and on the Championship website wrc.com.  Rally Radio is featured on ircseries.com, irallylive.com, rallyradio.com and again on iTunes and Apple TV.
